A Bronx Tale

As New York kicks off the month long celebration of fall fashion, it always comes and goes leaving you somewhat fulfilled and satisfied. New York is known for their infamous oodles of noodles of shows compared to the other three fashion capitals. This is good and bad altogether, let me explain. You triumph over the fact that you're one up NYFW by being entirely caught up with all of the shows, then suddenly 20 new shows pop up from thin air. It's frustrating. The upside to this ongoing cycle are the new designers coming into the business. It's always a real treat to see fresh souls breaking through the cracks into the tough industry. The Boy Wonder (a.k.a Wang) had to start from somewhere or "from the bottom". Get it? I'm cool.

By watching all thousands of the New York fashion shows, I've noticed some recurring patterns. Let me break it down. Reeeeeeckkka Reeeeeecccckkka:

Reed Krakoff

1) High boots and knee length skirts gives reason to never shave your legs again. So long Razers!

Derek Lam

2) Frizzy hair. No longer purchasing expensive hair products will leave your wallet plump. Let's face it, beautifully tamed hair was last season.

Rag & Bone

3) As we observe Mini Skirts and Long Jackets exposing the knee high stocking we generally assume working prostitute but if Rag & Bone shows it on the runway, then we must of had it all wrong. Who said mini skirts are only to be worn for clubbing? Add a long magician jacket to the mini skirt look and next thing you know girls will WANT to start wearing pants to the clubs. Wow. The world's balance would finally be restored.

Prabal Gurung

4) The prosthetic boot is what's popping. I WANT THESE.

Jeremy Laing

5) Homeless chic is right up my alleyway. I need no further clarification.

3.1 Phillip Lim

6) The Tuxedo: Professionalism is in the air. Workwear that is not only be worn at work. Bust this out any day of the week and you'll be the cats pyjamas. Trust me. Or don't. I don't know.

Milly

7) Smurf hats are the real deal this season. If you want to be taken seriously, wear one.

The Row

8) The old chinese lady inside me is extremely happy about this.

Now that we are in Milan Fashion week, it goes without saying that I will complete a London Fashion Week update shortly. Enjoy your wednesday.

Until Next Time,

 Didi
